Lesson 2 - 18th July

In this lesson, we learnt about the 3 types of fingerprints which would be found at crime scenes. They are patent, plastic and latent. Before trying out the techniques, we watched some videos on youtube. We have learnt to identify characteristics of a fingerprint, which includes scars, hooks, eye/lakes, islands and ridges. We were tasked in this lesson to use these different methods to obtain our fingerprints. We used lead powder to dust our oily fingerprints, placed our fingerprints over superglue fumes, and put the paper with our fingerprints into a test tube filled with iodine. i think this was a fruitful lesson as I learnt much about how and why detectives do what they do at crime scenes.
